Network Cabling

Computer Network Cable is available in different sizes and styles.

We recommend the installation of a minimum of Cat5e cable which is good for 100 MHZ.

When installing a new network, building a new home or office we urge you to use Cat 6 which is good for 1 GHZ.  In the next few years you will see the coming of Video over the LAN network.  This will require a large throughput of data.  Plan ahead.

All cable runs should be made to a central point or closet as home runs.  No splicing or daisy chaining from wall box to wall box.  It just does not work.

You can use the same CAT6 cable for telephone and network cabling.  Again, no daisy chaining, use home runs.  We recommend a minimum of one telephone home run and one network home run for every room. Larger rooms should have more.

Carrier Engineering can design and build a network for you.

We have seen some very poor installations done locally by competitors.  It was clear that they just did not get it.  Once the walls are closed in, it's too late.  Don't make the mistake of only considering the lowest price without understanding what you are paying for and what will be delivered or installed.
